Playing Catch-Up

So who doesn't get behind at the first of the year?

I've made it a mission to post more often and let you all know what I'm working on. Recently I had the opportunity to photograph some amazing talented musicians and gifted speakers.

Here are a few of my favorites from a few sessions I had.

Blues Traveler

Nikon brought it big this year to WPPI, last year they brought us the D3 this year they gave us a private performance by the Grammy Award Winning Band Blues Traveler!

I had a front row seat to this awesome performance, they brought the house down, me and a few hundred other fellow friends and photogs had a great time.

Below are just a few shots captured that night.

At the end of the evening Brendan threw me a stick, a little memento for the evening, John threw out several harmonicas to the crowd and I almost snagged one but alas, a stick is just as cool.

John Popper: Vocals, Harmonica
Chandler Kinchla: Guitars
Ben Wilson: Keyboards
Tad Kinchla: Bass
Brendan Hill: Drums, Percussion

Fantasy Portraits

While in Vegas I was fortunate to spend some time working with world renowned photographer Bambi Cantrell. A few of us spent two days working with her and crafting our skills. I had an amazing time learning new things and asking questions. We also had the opportunity to work with several talented models and make-up artists.

The first day the make-up artist had a ton of fun going wild with hair, wardrobe and make-up.

The following day the theme was Bond Girls.

Needless to say I made some amazing friends and had an even better time photographing some beautiful ladies.

I cannot wait to go back next year.

WPPI

I left Texas and headed West to Las Vegas, Nevada today for the WPPI conference. Upon landing I found out that thru the month of February there is only 1 tram running instead of the 2 that normally runs between the terminals. Oh joy that means that the abnorminally long lines at Vegas airport will be even longer but wait there is hardly anyone here in Vegas, I realize it is a Wednesday in February but it sure feels quiet here in Vegas.

But that's ok I'm here for one thing, to absorb as much information over the next 9 days as humanly possible. I'll be spending the next week with some of the World's Top photographers, I plan to learn as much as I can.

I took the Showtime shuttle to my hotel, I always suggest taking the Showtime shuttle, roundtrip to the airport you pay like $10 on Expedia, that's a bargain.

Anyways, after reaching the MGM Grand and checking in I head up the elevators. As I step out of the elevator who am I greeted by....none other than Frank Sinatra himself. Wow this trip has already started off right, one of the all time greats here to greet me as I get out. Don't beleive me, here's a picture.

This week is off to a great start I cannot wait.

Spring Already?

It's a nice 70 degrees outside right now so I decided to walk around the house and see what's going on in the yard.

Texas is a playground for weather than is far from usual, that's why everything starts growing at all the wrong times. The problem is my Peach trees have already started to blossom, May & June are notoriously windy months here in our neck of the woods so I always wind up losing most of the blossoms and get very few peaches.

This year I'm bound and determined to get a good crop of peaches, does anyone have any good ideas for blocking wind, I don't even mind if it's an eyesore since it's along the side of the house not viewable from the street or from the lake.

Revolve Tour - Oklahoma City

What an amazing time I had this weekend shooting all the Talent and Artists in Oklahoma City. I am so blessed to be able to take part in some small way of this event.

Here were some of the artists in attendance: Hawk Nelson, Natalie Grant, Chad Eastam, Group 1 Crew, Krystal Meyers, Jenna Lucado, Danielle Kimmey, Courtney Clark Cleveland, The Revolve Praise Band (Adrian, Bernie, Evan, Jenn, Richie, Tiffany, and Trevor). A few special appearances were made by Lisa Welchel, Marilyn Meberg, Sandi Patty and Sheila Walsh. What a lot to try and fit into two days.

What a turnout, you girls Rock! Thousands of young women packed into the Ford Center to have an amazing experience. The girls in Oklahoma City went all out in sponsoring a child for World Vision, some 460+ children are now being well taken care of, way to go!

It was a wonderful experience for me to get to share it all with you and meeting everyone and seeing old friends is always a pleasure. A special shout out has to go to my friends at Group 1 Crew, Blanca, Manwell and Pablo, the Praise Band, you guys were great and were a pleasure to work with even when I asked you to pick Richie up for the last shot. Jenna and Courtney you ladies made my job simple and I had a wonderful time with you. Austin, you have such a huge heart and you're going places at already such a young age, it was great getting to know you a little better, good luck in Africa this summer.

I could go on and on but to sum it up I had a blast and cannot wait to go back.
